Height Prediction Based on the Lengths of Ulna and Tibia in an Iranian Population

Background: Height is an important factor for medical, nutrition, and forensic sciences; nevertheless, measuring proves to be a challenging task in some cases. In this respect, alternative immediate, accurate, possible anthropometric evaluation needed. Objectives: This study was set find proper formula estimate height from the lengths of ulna tibia Iranian adults. Methods: A total 500 healthy males females aged 20 - 40 years were randomly selected volunteers’ pool cross-sectional study. Ulna standing heights measured according standard protocols. applied reliable equation predict stature accurately. Data statistically analyzed by SPSS version 17 using regression, curve estimation, linear model. Results: The mean (SD) male female participants 176.45 (11.98) cm 161.29 (10.11) cm, respectively, while right left 29.05 (1.63) 29.03 (1.44) 38.86 (1.33) 38.88 (1.25) respectively. correlation coefficients r2 = 0.80 0.69 participants’ ulna, showed significant with height. Hence, new provided results estimation northern Iran subgroups. Conclusions: Equations based on length are more accurate prediction both genders. It should considered that these equations could different among ethnically diverse populations, even population.
